본 연구는 정원을 소유하지 않은 도시민 335명을 대상으로 정원 조성 및 관리에 대한 선호도와 중요도를 파악하고자하였다. 주택정원을 조성할 때 고려해야 할 요소는 쾌적성, 건강성, 자연성과 심미성 등이며 연령별로 20대는 편의성, 30대는 독립성, 40대는 친근성, 5～60대는 실용성을 다른 연령대에 비하여 중요하게 인식하고 있다. 정원 이용 목적은연령별 차이 없이 휴식을 취하고 마음을 안정시키며 먹거리를 재배하기 위한 것이며, 정원에서 하고 싶은 일은 휴식, 식물 및 텃밭가꾸기이다. 연령별로 20, 30대는 휴식, 40, 50대는 식물가꾸기, 60대 이상은 텃밭가꾸기가 높게 나타나 연령별로 정원에서 선호하는 행위에 차이가 있다. 정원 이용 희망시간대는 전체적으로 아침이나 해가 지기 전을 선호하였으며 특히 40, 50, 60대는 수시로 이용하겠다는 응답이 다른 연령에 비하여 높게 나타났다. 정원의 공간 구성은 휴게공간, 식재공간, 텃밭 등의 선호가 높았으며 2-50대는 휴게공간, 60대는 식재공간을 선호하였다. 정원에는 그늘을 제공하는식물, 높았으며 계절별 꽃 감상, 열매제공이 가능한 식물을 선호하였다. 정원 관리에 있어서 벌레발생, 관리비용, 체계적인정원 관리 방법 등의 어려움을 예측하였다. 또한 정원 교육으로 병해충 방제방법, 정원식물 식재, 정지 방법 등에 관한내용을 요구하여 정원 조성 및 관리는 병해충과 식물 관리가 중점적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to research the preferences and significance of garden cultivation and maintenance by conducting a survey of 335 urban residents without gardens. Different elements to consider when cultivating an urban garden include amenity, healthiness, naturalness, and aesthetic value. People in their 20s regarded convenience as the most important element, people in their 30s independence, people in their 40s familiarity, and people in their 50s and 60s practicality. Across all age groups, the purpose of utilizing a garden was found to be relaxation, and cultivating vegetables for food, and the preferred activity rest and cultivating plants and vegetables. Differences in preferred activities for each age group exist; the 20s and 30s prefer rest, the 40s and 50s cultivating plants, and the 60s and older caring vegetables. Generally, morning or dusk were the preferred times for garden use, and people from the 40s to 60s replied that they would use the garden at any time during the day more than any other age group. In the garden space, rest space, planting space, and space for growing vegetables were preferred, and the 20s to 50s preferred rest space while the 60s preferred planting space. For the gardens plants that provide shade, seasonal flowers, and fruit-bearing plants were preferred. In garden maintenance, they predicted difficulties such as garden pests, maintenance costs, and methods of systematic maintenance. Also, garden educations about pest control, planting of garden plants, and the preparation of soil are needed. Therefore, pest and disease control and the maintenance of plants should be of prime importance in garden cultivation and maintenance.
