차이의 정치학으로서 에코페미니즘 : 우리나라 풀뿌리 운동의 사례

이 연구는 왜 지금 에코페미니즘에 관심하는가에서 시작된 것이다. 여성의 권리를 주장하는 페미니즘이 생태학과 만나야 하는 이유와 기후재앙을 해결하려는 생태운동이 페미니즘을 만나야 하는 이유를 살펴보며 에코페미니즘의 필요성을 살펴보았다. 연구자는 이 과정을 통해서 에코페미니즘이 필연적으로 교차성을 염두에 둔 차이의 정치학을 펼쳐야 한다고 주장하였다. 또한, 에코페미니즘이 폭넓게 확장되고 있음에도 불구하고 에코페미니즘이 무엇인가라는 질문이 지속되고 있음에 주목하고, 이에 대한 답을 이상화(2011)의 에코페미니즘의 분류에서 찾고자 하였다. 그는 생태와 여성의 관계를 기반으로 에코페미니즘을 경험적 영역, 개념적 영역, 인식론적인 영역으로 구분하였다. 첫째, 경험적 영역은 생태파괴가 여성과 정치적 소수자들에게 더 큰 피해를 준다는 것을 밝혀내는 운동과 사회 정치적연구들이 이에 해당한다. 둘째, 개념적 영역은 초월, 위계, 지배, 이성 등 기계론적 세계관과 가부장적 세계관을 구성하는 개념 등을 비판하고 생태와 여성을 중심으로 우리 사회를 이해하는 내재성, 연결, 감성 등의 개념으로 우리 사회에 대한 사고 체계를 바꾸어내는 존재론적 혁명의 영역이다. 셋째, 인식론적 영역은 생태파괴의주된 피해자들이 문제를 해결할 수 있는 인식론적 우위를 갖고 있음을 밝혀내는영역이다. 즉, 여성 및 정치적 소수자들의 목소리를 확대해 지식을 생산하고 변화를 추동하는 영역이다. 마지막으로, 이러한 연구에 기반하여 우리나라 풀뿌리 운동에 나타나는 에코페미니즘적 요소를 밝혀내고자 한다. 이 시도는 에코페미니즘이 다양한 지역, 시대적 맥락속에서 등장하고 있다는 점에 주목하여, 우리나라의 정치사회적 맥락 안에서 에코페미니즘의 요소를 밝혀내고자 하였다.
Abstract
This study begins by exploring why there is a growing interest in ecofeminism today. It examines the reasons why feminism, which advocates for women’s rights, should intersect with ecology, and why ecological movements aimed at addressing climate disasters should intersect with feminism, thus highlighting the necessity of ecofeminism. The researcher argues that ecofeminism must inherently engage in the politics of difference with an awareness of intersectionality. Despite the broad expansion of ecofeminism, the question of what ecofeminism truly entails persists. The researcher addresses this question by starting with the classification of ecofeminism proposed by Lee Sang-hwa (2011). He categorizes ecofeminism into three domains based on the relationship between ecology and women: empirical, conceptual, and epistemological. Firstly, the empirical domain includes movements and sociopolitical research that reveal how ecological destruction disproportionately affects women and political minorities. Secondly, the conceptual domain critiques concepts like transcendence, hierarchy, domination, and rationality that constitute mechanistic and patriarchal worldviews, and seeks to transform our societal thought system through concepts like immanence, connection, and sensitivity, which center on ecology and women, thereby fostering an ontological revolution. Thirdly, the epistemological domain asserts that the main victims of ecological destruction hold an epistemological advantage in solving these issues. This involves amplifying the voices of women and political minorities to produce knowledge and drive change. Finally, based on this framework, the study aims to uncover ecofeminist elements present in grassroots movements in South Korea. This effort is grounded in the recognition that ecofeminism emerges in various regional and historical contexts and seeks to identify its elements within the political and social context of South Korea.
