Abstract
An individual's name has conveyed a great deal of meaning and information and is a part of self-identity construct. With that, the current research investigates the influence of atttitudes toward one's names on impulse buying. Experiment 1 measured attitudes toward participants' names and impulsive-buying tendency and examined the effect of name attitudes on impulsive-buying tendency. The result revealed that participants with lower attitudes had higher impulse buying tendency than those with higher attitudes. Experiment 2 manipulated attitude toward participants' names and gave participants impulsive-buying task. As a result, participants with negative attitudes spent more money and bought more items than those with positive attitudes. Thus, the current research demonstrated that attitudes toward one's names influenced impulse buying and showed that the lower attitudes toward one's names, the higher impulsive buying
