Abstract
This study was performed to examine how self-compassion affect impulse-buying behavior and anticipated regret. In Studies 1a and 1b, a scenario depicting impulse-buying situation was used while, in Study 2, a scenario describing a buyer regretting after impulse-buying was used. Results indicate that, in impulse-buying situation (Study 1a), high self-compassion participants were higher in impulse-buying behavior than low high self-compassion participants. Self-compassion was found to be related to positivistic tendency (Study 1b). It was also found that, after impulse-buying (Study 2), high self-compassion participants regretted less than low high self-compassion participants. Further research and implications of this study in relationship between consumer intrinsic characteristics and impulse-buying.
