Abstract

In the circumstance that literary history is accepted as no more than an imagined narrative which is historically reconstituted and authorized by the bourgeois ruling power in ideological form of so-called ‘literature’, ‘writing literary history’ as a will and desire of a subject is to fall into an awkward position. However, modern nation state is still a stubborn physical substance in spite of its origin as an invented or imagined thing. And the conquest of it should be possible only through political struggles and subversive repossession of it. Accordingly, not narcistic writing national literary history that hides its origin and supports its self-identity but writing it as inward destruction that reflects its origin and outside is necessary and must be possible. The possibility of total and elaborate anti-modern project is not over yet, and total vision of history which could be its base seems to be still valid. Modern literary history / writing is necessary and possible. And it must be pursued more thoroughly as the task that probes the vision of contravention and subversion based on aesthetic tension which literary works and narratives have in the national field and world interpretations, desires of various modern subjects. Of course it must be premised the contradictory tension between modern narrative drive which is trying to find the chain of totality and inevitability and de-modernizing narrative drive which is trying to escape from them.
