재일 사회파 추리소설 작가의 탄생 – 고 가쓰히로(吳勝浩)의 「도덕의 시간」을 중심으로 –

Abstract

This paper considers the crimes of Japanese society and introspection toward actual problems, focusing on the social mystery Lessons of Morality written by a Zainichi Korean writer Go Katsuhiro. This novel was awarded Edogawaranpo Prize in 2015. Since then, Go has written several mystery novels showing catchy story construction ability. His works express the sympathy and communication to the persons living in the present. In Go’s works, there is a structure connecting the incident of the past and the present. The structure shows the conflicts among the characters, and reveals the social problems like discrimination, poverty, prostitution, and violence, etc. These problems are related with “being moral”. The narrator calls attention to introspection about evil and atonement. In Lessons of Morality, the fundamental discrimination inhabited in Japanese society is disclosed by setting up the character whose family has immigrated from a colony in the period of Imperial Japan. The Zainichi writer’s perspective presented in Go’s works objectifies the Japanese society and sets up a critical viewpoint. That’s why Go’s continuing works are expected.
