Relating Keywords to the ‘Top Ten News of the Year’ in Korean Newspapers

Abstract

문서나 코퍼스의 특징을 파악하는 방법으로 통계적 핵심어 분석 기법이 점차 활용되고 있다. 핵심어 분석 기법이 한편으로는 매우 객관화된 분석 결과를 제공한다는 점에서 바람직하지만, 다른 한편으로 사람이 직관적으로 느끼는 ‘핵심어’나 ‘핵심개념’과 얼마나 부합되는지에 대한 논의는 아직 충분치 못하다. 이 논문의 목적은 신문사에서 연말에 정리해 발표하는 10대 뉴스와 해당 신문의 1년치 기사를 대상으로 추출한 핵심어 사이에 상관성, 또는수렴도를 측정하고 평가하는 데 있다. 분석에 이용된 대상 코퍼스는 2009년도 조선일보 기사이며, 같은 신문의 2006-8년도치 3년간의 기사가 참조코퍼스로 이용되었다. 분석 결과 10대 뉴스와 상위 100개의 핵심어 사이에 60% 수준의 수렴도가 있는 것으로 나왔다. 이는 이전의 비슷한 연구에서 10%내외로 나온 것과는 대조되는 결과다. 본 논문에서는 분석 방법론과 분석 절차를 보다 정교하게 하였고, 공기어/연어(collocation)을 활용하여 분류와 해석의 객관성을 높였고, 또한 분석 결과를 여러 각도에서 체계적으로 해석하였다. 아울러 동일방식을 다른 자료에 확대 적용한 결과도 일부 보였다.
