『대한일보』 소재 단형서사 연구

Abstract

In this paper, I have searched the works that can be defined as short narratives among the miscellaneous paragraphs in Korean published in the 『Daehanilbo』(which means "Korean Daily News,") which was not known to academic circles until now, and the historical development of the short narrative literature and its implications. A total of 677 articles were published from March 16, 1904 to December 28, 1904. In addition to <Kimssipinan> and <Ssangbongkiyeon> which were known through previous researches, I have newly confirmed the existence of narrative works. The short narratives of the 『Daehanilbo』 are mostly derived from the traditional narratives such as yadam and tale, and the narratives have been reinforced by showing the tendency of the scenes to be more specific and tangible. It is reasonable to understand this as a result of reflecting the intention of the newspaper executive or the writers who intend to actively engage the readers of the Hangul reading comprehension by enhancing the interest of the content itself. This tendency of 『Daehanilbo』 was similar to other newspapers in the early modern period, which published mainly the short narrative works in Hangul, through the miscellaneous news. However, unlike 『Daehanmaeilsinbo』 and 『Jekuksinmun』, 『Daehanilbo』 is different in that it focuses more on interest. In this paper, a total of 29 short narrative works including a witty talk were uncovered, and their approximate hints and serial bibliography were presented. A total of 8 original texts were identified and compared. As a result, it was confirmed that the episodes of various stories and the traditional narratives that were compiled in the late Chosun period were accepted in the short narratives of 『Daehanilbo』. In addition, the publication rate of a witty talk was relatively high at the beginning of 『Daehanilbo』, but it was found that the publication of the Hangul magazine article was evolving into a short narrative close to a full-fledged narrative. However, since the review results in this paper are based on only some works whose original texts have been confirmed, it is necessary to elucidate in more detail the overall characteristics of the short narrative and Hangul script.
