생태주의에서 본 현대교육학의 세 가지 과제

생태주의가 주목받기 시작하면서 교육학을 비롯한 많은 학문 분야에서 널리 수용되고 있다. 본고는 이러한 생태주의가 현대교육학에 어떤 과제를 던지고 있고, 그 과제를 풀기 위한 노력은 무엇이어야 하는가를 탐구하고 있다. 이를 위해 본고는 세 가지 과제, 즉 교육철학적 과제와 교육내용적 과제, 그리고 실천적 차원인 윤리교육적 과제를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 교육철학적 과제를 다루는 2장에서는 인간중심사상에 기초를 둔 개인주의-자유주의 교육철학으로부터 탈인간중심주의로 전환해야 한다는 생태주의자들의 주장을 알아보았고, 이것에 기초한 현대교육학의 철학적 성격을 탐색하였다. 여기에서는 특히 인간중심주의의 한계는 무엇이고 그의 대안으로 제시되는 탈인간중심주의의 존재론적 측면을 살펴보면서 그것에 기초한 새로운 생태교육철학의 가능성을 알아보았다. 교육내용의 과제를 다루는 3장에서는 객관주의적 지식관의 한계를 지적하면서 생태주의 방법론이 제시한 전체적 접근을 통해 ‘분리되고 개별화’된 교과관의 문제를 극복할 수 있는 생태적 교과관을 지식통합적 차원에서 현행 교과내용을 재구성해야 할 것임을 제안하였다. 마지막으로 윤리교육적 과제와 관련해서는 기존의 인간중심 윤리관의 한계를 지적하면서 새로운 생태적 윤리의 성격은 무엇이고 이의 실천적 행위인 보살핌의 윤리를 하나의 생태윤리교육의 사례로 제시하였다.
Abstract
As the ecological philosophy is given attention, it is accepted in the diverse academic fields including of pedagogy. This study explores: the tasks of modern educational science in the view of the ecological philosophy. This study inquires about three tasks; the task of educational philosophy on the basis of de-anthropocentrism, of curriculum on the basis of ecological holistism, and of eco-ethic education. First, we look into the possibility and task of the modern educational science in the view of the ecologist's contention that should be changed from the individual-liberal Education on the basic of the antropocentrism to philosophy of de-antropocentrism. Second, we criticize the limits of the 'objective view of knowledge', and inquire into the ecological view of knowledge based on the holistic approach, and then propose the integration and reconstruction of the individualized knowledge. Third, we criticize the anthropocentric moral education, and insist on teaching in the school the ethic for caring, which by Noddings formulated. This study is a meaningful presentation of the new direction for the modern educational science.
