초록
Cerebral palsy causes problems with posture and motor development, and parents are stressed about their children's problems. We aimed to investigate the impact of the gross motor function level and age of children with cerebral palsy on parents' stress and life satisfaction. The level of gross motor function, life satisfaction, and stress were assessed through questionnaires to the guardians of 69 children with cerebral palsy. As a result, there was a significant difference in activities of daily living and postural mobility according to gross motor function (p<.05), but there was no difference in parents' life satisfaction and stress (p>.05). Depending on child’s age, parents of infantile period (7~24 months) experienced more stressed than parents of pre-school period (25~68 months) (p<.05). Therefore, we suggest that a broader social support plan is needed for guardians raising infantile period with cerebral palsy.
Abstract
Cerebral palsy causes problems with posture and motor development, and parents are stressed about their children's problems. We aimed to investigate the impact of the gross motor function level and age of children with cerebral palsy on parents' stress and life satisfaction.
