Old Question, But New Answers - Some Comparative Reviews on Recent Studies of Endogenous Institutional Change -

In recent years some studies on endogenous institutional change appeared such as follows: (1) extended polya urn model, (2) subjective game model, (3) shared mental model, (4) quasi-parameter model, (5) double-time scale model, (6) historical materialism model, (7) social structure of accumulation or regulation approach model, and (8) interpretation struggle model. Those models suggest two mechanisms, learning and politics, by which the changes take place. This paper classifies those models and provides systematic comparisons of those models. The relationships between the models are discussed along the lines of coincidence, competition, and complementarity.
