Abstract
In the field of variable-body simulation, the interior of a moving object usually consists of divided tetrahedra. In the previous study, since the tetrahedron is divided into equal sizes, even when modeling an object having a non-uniform property, a large number of division occurs collectively, which wastes storage space and increases processing time. In this paper, we propose a method of producing level of detail(LOD) by differentiating the size of each tetrahedron according to the density value inside the object. The tetrahedron is subdivided by deciding whether to recursively divide each level in the LOD by using the density value distribution at the point where each tetrahedron is mapped to the inside of the object having the density value. As a result of rendering using the proposed LOD model, it was possible to reduce the number of vertices and triangles while maintaining the same precision. By using the method proposed in this paper, it is possible to efficiently simulate objects with non-uniform properties.
