Abstract
The climate crisis is having a profound impact on the mental health of farmers., Although the government has been introducing policies for climate crisis adaptation, and mitigation, there remains an absence of mental health policies specifically, targeting farmers, who are a climate-vulnerable group. The same applies to domestic, research, where there is a significant gap in studies on farmers’ mental health in, relation to the climate crisis. Therefore, this study aimed to identify trends in overseas, research on farmers’ mental health from the perspective of the climate crisis, with a, focus on quantitative studies, to examine what research tools are currently being used., In addition, it sought to investigate whether these studies examined multiple, vulnerabilities centred on gender, adopting a perspective that considers not only sex, differences but also gender intersectionality., Through a scoping review methodology, relevant literature was collected and, analysed, resulting final selection of 21 studies. Most studies primarily measured, depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidal ideation among farmers, while some also, explored direct changes in perception regarding the climate crisis. Regarding climate, factors, climate hazards, particularly the impact of drought, were the most frequently addressed. However, many studies showed an insufficient application of perspectives, related to sex differences and gender intersectionality. Based on these findings, this, review highlighted the gap in studies on farmers’ mental health in relation to the, climate crisis, and proposed future research directions for domestic studies.
