Abstract
There are two research aims in this study. The first thing is an investigation of students’ changing attitudes toward economic education as a result of an economics course, unitⅢ in 『Social Studies』. The second thing is an estimation of math skill effect on the changing attitudes. Students’ attitudes toward economic education before and after taking unitⅢ in『Social Studies』was examined using standardized multiple choice questionary. A LGM(latent growth model) was adopted to achieve the aims. I could get two results from the analysis. First, I could find that taking the unit gradually improved the students’ attitudes in the limited sense. Even though there was no change in their interest in economic education, their preference of the economic education grew and the number of the students who were aware of utility of learning economics increased time by time. Second, the students’ attitudes were improved without reference to their math skill. The impact of math score on the their attitude changes was not statistically significant.
