대중문화에 나타난 청소년 K-pop 아이돌 헤어스타일의 시대적 변천 연구 - 2000∼2020년대를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 2000년대부터 2020년대까지 청소년기에 활동한 K-pop 아이돌의 헤어스타일에 나타난 조형적 특성과 이미지 표현의 변화를 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 시대별 남녀 각 5명씩 총 30명을 선정하고 대표 활동 당시의 공식 콘셉트 사진, 뮤직비디오 및 음악방송 자료를 수집하여 모발 길이, 커트 구조, 모발 형태, 색채, 앞머리 및 질감을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 커트 구조는 세 시대와 성별 모두 레이어드가 가장 높은 비율을 보였다. 2000년대에는 쇼트와 흑색·자연색, 일자형·사선형 앞머리가 주로 나타났고 2010년대에는 롱 헤어와 다크 브라운, 웨이브의 활용이 증가하였다. 2020년대에는 롱과 미디엄 헤어, 자연색 스트레이트 및 없음·가르마형 앞머리가 두드러졌다. 남성 아이돌은 쇼트 또는 미디엄 길이의 스트레이트가 중심이었으며, 여성 아이돌은 롱 헤어에 스트레이트와 웨이브를 다양하게 적용하였다. 이미지 표현은 2000년대의 풋풋함과 청순함, 2010년대의 발랄함·몽환성·강렬함, 2020년대의 세련됨·중성성·자연스러움으로 확대되었다. 본 연구는 청소년 K-pop 아이돌의 시대별·성별 헤어스타일 변화와 이미지 형성의 관계를 이해하기 위한 기초자료를 제공한다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine changes in the formative characteristics and image expressions of hairstyles among K-pop idols who were active during adolescence from the 2000s to the 2020s. A total of 30 idols were selected, including five male and five female idols from each period. Official concept photographs, music videos, and music broadcast materials from their representative promotional activities were collected and analyzed in terms of hair length, haircut structure, hair form, color, bangs, and texture. The results showed that layered cuts were the most common haircut structure across all three periods and among both genders. In the 2000s, short hairstyles, black or natural hair colors, and straight-across or side-swept bangs were prominent. In the 2010s, long hairstyles, dark brown hair colors, and wavy forms became more prevalent. In the 2020s, long and medium-length hairstyles, natural-colored straight hair, and no-bang or parted styles were frequently observed. Male idols mainly wore short or medium-length straight hairstyles, whereas female idols showed greater variation through long straight and wavy hairstyles. Image expressions also changed over time. Fresh and pure images were prominent in the 2000s, while lively, dreamy, elegant, and intense images became more diverse in the 2010s. In the 2020s, sophisticated, androgynous, and natural images were emphasized. These findings provide foundational data for understanding period- and gender-based changes in adolescent K-pop idol hairstyles and their relationship with image formation.
