비행청소년의 공격성에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 탐색적 연구 : 범죄소년을 중심으로 - Heckman Selection Model을 활용한 분석 -

초록

본 연구는 청소년의 발달과정에 있어 신체적․심리적으로 큰 변화의 시기를 경험하는 중학교 2학년을 대상으로 범죄행위를 저지른 청소년의 공격성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색적으로 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 표본선택 시 발생할 수 있는 편의를 해결하기 위한 방법인 Heckman Selection model 추정법을 통해 범죄소년의 공격성에 미치는 영향요인을 검증하였다. 분석자료는 한국청소년정책연구원의 한국청소년패널자료 1차 년도이며 총 사례 수는 3449명(범죄소년 680명)이다. 중학생의 범죄행위에 영향을 미치는 요인을 probit 분석을 통해서 살펴본 결과 여학생보다는 남학생이, 자기통제력이 낮을수록, 남성위주의 가부장적 성역할 고정관념 강할수록, 주위환경에서 경험하는 폭력경험이 높을수록, 성적이 낮을수록, 비행친구의 수가 많을수록, 자신에 대한 타인의 일탈적 낙인정도가 높을수록 범죄행위를 저지를 확률이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 표본선택 시 발생할 수 있는 편의를 보정한 교정항인 (lambda)계수를 추가적인 독립변수로 투입한 뒤 범죄소년을 대상으로 이들의 공격성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴본 결과 남학생보다는 여학생이, 자기통제력이 낮을수록, 남성적 성역할고정관념이 강할수록, 자아존중감이 높을수록, 스트레스 정도가 높을수록, 부모애착이 높을수록, 가정폭력경험이 높을수록, 친한 친구와의 애착정도가 높을수록, 주위환경에서 경험하는 폭력경험이 높을수록, 비행친구의 수가 많을수록, 자신에 대한 타인의 일탈적 낙인이 높을수록 공격성이 높게 나타났다. 본 연구는 향후 범죄소년의 공격성을 감소하고 재비행의 방지를 위한 보호요인과 위험요인을 살펴보고 실천적 접근의 유용한 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 의의가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the aggression levels of 2nd grade middle school juvenile delinquents. Date of 1st year from Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS), which Korean Research Institute of Young was used for analysis and analyzed by Heckman Selection model which solves the selection bias. The total number of cases is 3,449 including 677 juvenile offenders(14 year old offenders). The main results of this study are as follows. Through the Probit analysis, firstly, it was observed that the male students were more likely to break the lawcompared to female students. The possibility of breaking the law was found to increase with the male students possessing low self control, who were male-oriented, focusing on patriarchal gender roles, with more experienceof domestic violence, and having juvenile delinquent friends. Second, inputting the independent variable which solves the selection bias, the (lambda) coefficient, it was observed that the female students were more likely to break the law, compared to male students. The possibility of aggression was found to increase with the juveniles suffering from low self control, who were male-oriented, focusing on sex role stereotypes, high self-esteem and levels of stress, high levels of attachment to parents and friends, more experience of domestic and environmental violence, having juvenile delinquent friends, and those stigmatized by their peers. The implications of this study are that it is necessary to seek out and address the risk factors of aggression of juvenile offenders. It further provides important guidelines for decreasing the aggression levels of juvenile offenders.
