본 연구의 목적은 영아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 후속 출산 계획에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 확인하여, 저출산 문제해결을 위한 지원 방안을 모색하는데 있었다. 이를 위하여 한국 영유아 교육⋅보육패널 1차년도 자료를 활용하였고, 연구대상은 영아 자녀를 양육하고 있는 어머니 2,580명이었다. 영아기 자녀를둔 어머니의 심리⋅정서적 특성, 양육특성이 후속 출산에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 빈도분석, 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 영아 자녀를 양육하고 있는 어머니는 자아존중감, 우울, 결혼만족도, 부부갈등, 양육행동, 양육스트레스가 보통 정도이고, 심리⋅정서적 특성, 양육특성, 후속 출산 계획 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 자아존중감, 우울, 결혼만족도, 부부갈등, 양육행동, 양육스트레스가 후속 출산 계획에 영향을 미치는 변인임을 확인하였다. 이러한결과는 저출산 문제해결을 위해 긍정적 심리⋅정서 상태를 유지하고 양육스트레스를 낮추도록 지원할필요가 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the subsequent childbirth plans of mothers with infants and to explore support measures to address the low birth rate problem. For this purpose, data from the first year of the Korean Early Childhood Education & Care Panel Study were used, and the subjects of the study were 2,580 mothers raising infants. Frequency analysis and binary logistic regression analysis were conducted to examine the effects of mothers’ psychological and emotional characteristics, parenting characteristics, and their subsequent childbirth plans. The results indicated that mothers with infants generally showed average levels of self-esteem, depression, marital satisfaction, marital conflict, parenting behavior, and parenting stress, and that there was a significant correlation between mothers’ psychological and emotional characteristics, parenting characteristics, and their subsequent childbirth plans. This study confirmed that mothers’ self-esteem, depression, marital satisfaction, marital conflict, parenting behavior, and parenting stress are key factors influencing mothers’ decisions regarding subsequent childbirth. These findings suggest that it is necessary to support mothers to maintain positive psychological and emotional well-being and reduce parenting stress in order to address the low birth rate problem.
