압바스 시대 지혜의 전당과 조선 시대 집현전 비교 연구 -설립 배경, 왕립학술원 기능, 체계와 운영을 중심으로-

Abstract

This is a comparative study on Bayt al-Ḥikmah in Abbasid Era and Zip Hyun Jeon in Chosun Era, and it compares the two institutions in the fields of establishment and functions of royal academies and their systems and managements. In the aspect of establishment, the two academies were established by effect of the neighboring advanced cultures and the previous ages. In the aspect of functions of the royal academies, they accomplished development of sciences as well as political stability. In the aspect of system and management, the two academies had professional and developed method for improvement of sciences and support of scholars. The similarities of the two academies and the fact that they contributed to construction of the golden ages of their own countries suggest the possibility of interchange of civilization between Arab Islam world and Korea in the middle ages. This study would give a hint that Bayt al-Ḥikmah had a indirect impact on Zip Hyun Jeon by way of China.
