‘힘’과 ‘거리’ 요인에 따른 탈춤 대사의 경어법 연구

Abstract

A Study of Honorifics in Mask Dance Dramas according to the factors of ‘power’ and ‘distance’Lee, Jeong-Bok(Daegu Univ.)The purpose of this paper is to analyze the use of honorifics in mask dance dramas according to the factors of ‘power’ and ‘distance’. The mask dance dramas that analyzed in this paper are originated from Gyeonggi and Hwanghae areas. All of these mask dance dramas have the Joseon Dynasty period for a background of time. The characters of mask dance dramas have each other diverse mutual relations by aspect of the ‘power’ factors like a class, a gender, an age, and so on or by aspect of ‘distance’ factors like a spatial distance, a period distance, and a mental distance. Therefore, the usage of honorifics becomes complicated, but at the same time, it also shows a certain regularity from the standpoint of ‘power’ and ‘distance’. We are going to understand the social background of mask dance dramas and the relations between peoples deeply. Besides, we are going to expand our knowledge about the important features of Korean honorifics and the strategies of honorific use. We can affirm the essential principles of Korean honorifics by analyzing mask dance dramas that have the background of hierarchical society.
