Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyse curation codes of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center which was opened in Moscow in November 2012. Special emphasis is laid on the significance of the 'Great Patriotic War'. Because the museum as a chronological journey of the Russian Jewish history is shown along two axes, both lead up to the 'Great Patriotic War'. Touching this theme, the museum sheds light upon the solidarity among all Soviet citizens including Soviet Jews, of course, as well as the latter's contribution to the national defence against the Nazi invasion of 1941. Here, the curation codes of contribution, of cooperation, of coexistence, therefore, are to be read through the eyes of the museum visitors. Besides, the museum stresses interactivity and openness to the widest possible public, especially young people. To make knowledge child-friendly, social technologies like voting, with interactive tests and touchscreens, are to be used. Through these works the museum tries to improve the image of Jewish people among the Russian population.
