설교자에게 다른 그 어떤 일보다도 본문의 의미를 올바로 파악하기 위해 설교본문의 주해작업이 선행되어야 한다. 이 주해의 과정에서 역본들을 비교해 보는 작업은 매우 중요한 일이다. 특히 설교자는 한글 역본과 같은 어느 특정 역본만을 의존하기보다는 맛소라 본문이나 영어 역본들도 함께 관찰해야 하며, 나아가 본문의 문제를 주의 깊게 분석한 전문가들의 번역들도 반드시 참고해야 한다. 결론적으로 설교자는 설교의 준비 과정에서 번역 선택의 중요성을 인식하고, 자신의 번역 선택이 설교의 방향에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 기억하며, 본문의 의도를 보다 정확하게 전달하는 번역을 선택하기 위해 최선을 다해야 할 것이다. 본 논문의 목적은 설교를 위해 선행되어야 할 중요한 단계로서 본문 선택의 중요성을 고찰하는데 있다.
Abstract
Preachers must interpret the meaning of the text before delivering a sermon. However, when they compare Bible translations, they notice the wide variance in the selections of words from version to version. It indicates that each version has a different interpretation. In this sense, preachers need to compare translations and make a choice. Unfortunately some preachers only rely on a particular translation when preparing a sermon. There can be no doubt, however, that the preacher’s obligation is to compare several translations including those of commentators and to choose one that reveals the correct meaning of the Hebrew text. The purpose of this paper is to address the significance of the choice of a Bible translation in preaching the Old Testament by looking at Hosea 1:4; 1:9 and 2:19-20.
