구약개정판 번역에 대한 여성신학적 평가

본 논문은 언어에 대한 문제의식을 바탕으로 출발하여, 성서 원문은 물론 이를 한글로 번역하는 과정에서 남성 번역자들에 의해 첨가, 수정된 가부장적인 번역에 대한 비판적 시각을 가진다. 남성 성서 번역자들은 성서 번역 과정에서 남성적인 포괄적 언어 사용으로 많은 신학적인 오류를 남겼다. 성서신학 분야에 여성신학적 방법론을 적용할 경우, 가장 먼저 살펴 보아야 할 것이 성서해석의 문제이다. 성서는 여성신학의 목표를 제시해 줄 뿐 아니라 여성신학의 비판적 원칙을 제공해 주는 기준이기 때문이다. 그러므로 성서를 여성신학적 관점에서 재조명해 보는 일은 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 특별히 1998년 약 50여년 만에 한글 “개역” 성경이 새로이 현대화되어 개정되었다는 “개역 개정판”을 다루었다. 개역 개정판이 긍정적인 의미를 지니고 있음에도 가부장적인 해석에 의한 번역이 반영되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이 논문은 과거와 현재 우리에게 주어진 번역 성서 한글 개역개정판에 이르는 성서 본문을 가부장적인 한계에서부터 회복시키고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper focuses on the language of the Old Testament. The Bible (not only the original text but also the translation), for the most part, was not written by women or with women in mind. Therefore, the translation of the patriarchal Old Testament makes explicit a basic affirmation of the male translator. By repeatedly using the inclusive language of males, they risked theological misunderstanding. However, despite the Bible's handicaps, despite the fact that it has misled people and promoted patriarchy, it suggests a new vision through feminist biblical theology. Particularly, this paper deals with the NKRV(New Korean Revised Version), published in 1998. The NKRV of the Bible is an authorized revision of the KRV(Korean Revised Version), published in 1961. Because no translation of the Bible is perfect or acceptable to all groups of readers, and because discoveries of older manuscripts and further investigation of linguistic features of the text continue to become available, renderings of the Bible have to be continually revised. This paper seeks to redeem the past (the original text) and the present (the NKRV of Bible) from the confines of patriarchy.
