세계교회협의회와 한국교회의 관계 역사

한국교회는 세계교회협의회의 선행기구들 중에서 주로 국제선교협의회와 관계를 맺어왔으며, 국제선교협의회는 한국교회가 세계교회협의회가 창립되는 과정에서부터 초청받아 회원으로 가입할 수 있도록 다방면에서 지원해주었다. 세계교회협의회와 한국교회의 초기 관계에서는 상호이해와 협력을 찾아보기 힘들다. 뿐만 아니라 한국교회 내에서 보수-근본주의 교회들은 세계교회협의회를 오해하고 자신들의 정치 이해타산과의 관련 속에서 배척하였다. 1960년대 후반부터 한국교회의 진보진영은 세계교회협의회의 신학을 받아들였으며, 세계교회협의회도 한국교회의 상황에 대해 관심을 가지기 시작했다. 1990년대 이후 세계교회협의회는 성령에 대한 증대되는 관심 속에서 오순절교회와의 관계를 개선시키기 위해 노력하였다. 아울러 이제 보수-근본주의 교회들과도 대화를 하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 한국의 부산에서 개최된 제10차 총회에서는 오순절교회의 일부인 기독교대한하나님의성회(여의도순복음) 교단이 적극적으로 참여한 것 외에 예장 합동을 비롯한 보수-근본주의 진영의 동참을 이루어내지는 못하였다. 한반도의 평화와 통일을 위해서도 가시적인 진척을 이루지는 못했다. 총회에서 세계교회협의회는 한반도의 평화와 통일을 촉구하는 성명서를 결의하였다.
Abstract
Churches of Korea developed relationship with the International Missionary Council (IMC) among others precursor organizations of the World Council of Churches (WCC). The IMC played a crucial role for the entry of churches of Korea into the WCC. In the early phase of the relationship between churches of Korea and the WCC can be found neither mutual understanding nor cooperation. In addition, the conservative-fundamentalist side misunderstood the WCC. And in connection with their political interests she raised her opposition to the WCC. In contrast, since the second half of the 1960s the progressive side accepted the theology of the WCC. The WCC was interested in the situation of churches of Korea. From the 1990s the WCC was interested in the Holy Spirit. In this context, the WCC tried to develop a relationship with pentecostal churches. On top of that, the WCC tries to talk about mutual understanding and cooperation with conservative-fundamentalist side. Although the Assemblies of God of Korea (Yoido Full Gospel) active participated in the 10th Assembly in Busan, but the conservative-fundamentalist side including the Presbyterian Churches in Korea (Habdong) did not participate the Assembly. In the peaceful reunification movement in Korea, there was no visible progress. By the WCC 10th Assembly was adopted “the Statement on Peace and Reunification of the Korean Peninsula.”
