이 논문은 세계교회협의회가 한국교회 특히 예장 통합 측과 전라북도 지역교회에 미친 영향에 대해 살펴본다. 세계교회협의회는 역사적인 제 10회 세계대회를 한국 부산에서 개최하기로 결정함으로 분단국의 아픔을 공유하고 통일을 향한 우리 국민의 열망에 지지를 보냈다고 할 수 있다. 그런데 세계교회협의회는 한국교회 특히 본 교단 소속교회에 매우 중요한 영향을 미쳐 왔다. 또한 불행하게 우리 장로교 교단의 분열과 세계교회협의회는 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 세계교회협의회는 일치와 화해를 위한 세계교회의 연합기구이다. 그러나 불행히도 우리나라의 분단 상황과 맞물려 우리나라 교회는 아직도 분열과 갈등에 휩싸여 있다. 이는 냉전과 한국전쟁의 비극이 낳은 결과지만 세계교회와 호흡하지 못하는 우리 교계의 신학적 후진성과도 관련이 있다. 그럼에도 세계교회협의회는 우리나라의 인권운동에 지대한 영향을 미쳤다. 산업선교, 학원선교, 정의와 평화 운동에 많은 영향을 미쳤다고 할 수 있다. 또 우리 교단의 생명 살리기 운동과 여성목회자 안수 문제 등 많은 목회 영역에서 심대한 영향을 지속적으로 미쳐 왔다. 이 논문은 세계교회협의회가 한국교회에 미친 이러한 영향에 대해 특히 대한 예수교 장로회 통합 측을 중심으로 분석한다.
Abstract
This article attempts to examine the influence of World Council of Churches(W.C.C.) upon the Korean church in general and the Presyterian Church of Korea(P.C.K.) in particular. W.C.C.’s 10th meeting will be held in Busan this coming October. W.C.C.’s decision shows its full support for Korean church’s struggle for a peaceful reunification of Korea. W.C.C. has been influencing P.C.K and its denominational policy for a long time. Therefore, it is worthwhile to analyze the relationship of W.C.C. and P.C.K. with special reference to its local ministry. Also, it is noticeable that W.C.C. has impacted on the division and conflict of P.C.K churches. It is needless to say that W.C.C. is an institution for the unity and reconciliation among world churches. Unfortunately, however, as mentioned above, W.C.C. is one of the major causes of presbyterian churches’ division. The conflict has been worsened due to the division of Korean peninsula. Of course, it needs to be pointed out that the cold war and the war between North and South Korea has fueled the conflict. The lack of knowledge of the new trends of theological movements in the West is also one of the reasons of the conflict between the conservative and the progressive Korean church leaders. Next, W.C.C. has directly influenced the enhancement of the human right movements in Korea. Urban ministry, Students movement, Laborer movements, Justice and Peace movement are examples of W.C.C.'s influence in Korea. W.C.C. also has impacted on the life giving movement, ordination of Woman in P.C.K.
