본 논문은 “WCC 10차 총회의 성공적 개최를 위한 공동선언”의 발표와 그 결과로 빚어진 파문이 한국 교회의 WCC의 이해에 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤는가를 연구한 것이다. 공동선언은 신학자들의 합의가 아닌 WCC와 WEA를 성공적으로 개최하기 위한 한국교계의 진보와 보수지도자들이 정치적 타협에서 만들어진 것이다. 따라서 이 공동선언은 한국 신학계에 커다란 논쟁을 불러 일으켰다. 특히, WCC의 공산주의와 종교다원주의 문제, 동성애 문제 등이 주요 논쟁점으로 부각되었다. 그러나 실제 논쟁의 배후에는 한국 교회의 초기부터 형성되어온 성서무오설이라는 교리적 독단주의와 해방이후 급속한 교회성장이 이룬 배타적인 교파우월주의라는 논리가 작용한 것이다. 근본주의적 성서교리는 성서를 제한할 수 없다. 또한 특정교파의 신앙고백이 예수 그리스도에 대한 세계교회의 공동의 신앙고백보다 우위일 수 없다. 예수는 그리스도시며 생명의 하나님이고 정의와 평화를 이루시는 성령이다. WCC는 성서에 따라 주 예수 그리스도를 하나님과 구주로 고백하며 성부, 성자, 성령 한 하나님의 영광을 위하여 공동의 소명을 함께 성취하고자 노력하는 교회들의 교제(Koinonia)이다.(The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures, and therefore seek to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit) 이 교제는 서로 입장을 반대하는 이들까지도 포용하는 다양성 속의 일치이며 만남을 통한 배움의 과정이다. WCC 10차 총회 이후의 한국 교회의 에큐메니칼 운동은 위로부터의 일치가 아닌 세계화 시대에 더욱 고난받는 민중과 피조물들의 호소를 수렴하는 아래로부터의 일치를 이루어가야 할 과제와 책임이 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to research on how “Joint Declaration for the Successful Hosting of the WCC Busan Assembly” influenced Korean church's understanding of WCC(The World Council of Churches). Korean church leaders made the Joint Declaration through the political compromise. This compromise was exclusive and theologians did not take part in this process. The purpose of the political compromise was for the successful hosting of both the WCC Busan Assembly in 2013 and the WEA General Assembly 2014. The Joint Declaration raised extreme controversy in Korean theologian circles. The main issue was where WCC stands in regard to communism, religious pluralism and homosexuality. The Joint Declaration expressed rugged dogmatism and exclusive sectarianism. The dogmatism as biblical literalism has been made from the beginning of Korean church and the exclusive sectarianism has been built by rapid growth of Korean church since 1945. The Bible can not be restricted by biblical literalism as fundamentalistic dogmatism. And some denominations' profession should not take priority over world church's universal(catholic) confession of faith. WCC is fellowship(koinonia) of world churches. WCC confesses the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures. And therefore WCC seeks to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This fellowship(koinonia) is a process of learning and solidarity in the diverseness. After the WCC Busan Assembly, the ecumenical movement in Korean church should set the new agenda for solidarity with below. That is why Minjung and all creatures are suffered much more in the age of globalization.
