연구 배경: 미야자키 하야오의 <센과 치히로의 행방불명>에서 치히로의 부모는 함부로 음식을 먹은 죄로 돼지가 된다. 그러자 홀로 남은 치히로는 자신과 부모의 생명을 살리기 위하여 온천장에 취직하고 고난을 감수하며 책임감 있는 구성원으로 성장한다. 따라서 자립의 계기로서 돼지로의 변신은, <센과 치히로의 행방불명>에서 서사적으로 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 연구 방법: <센과 치히로의 행방불명>에서 돼지는 다채로운 상징으로 사용되며, 미야자키 하야오가 생각하는 현실과 인간의 모습을 그려내는 주요한 모티프로 활용된다. 이 작품에서 돼지는 기본적으로 노동을 거부하고 편익을 쫓는 인간의 오만함을 대변하며, 이러한 성향은 인간에 대한 혐오를 겨냥하기도 한다. 반대로, 돼지는 유폐되어 감금되는 자의 처지를 대변하기도 하고, 분별과 차이의 기준을 잃어버린 존재의 상실감을 표상하기도 한다. 결 론: <센과 치히로의 행방불명>에서 돼지는 음식이지만 편안한 음식이 아니고, 인간의 형상을 취했지만 인간이 아닌 중간적 실체로 묘사된다. 돼지의 다양한 의미는 미야자키 하야오에 의해 일본인과 거품 세대의 흔적으로 치부되기도 한다. 이 작품에서 돼지의 의미가 다양하다는 점은 돼지로 표상되는 인간과 동시대인의 다양한 특징이 그 안에 담보되었다는 뜻이기도 하다. 이처럼 〈센과 치히로의 행방불명〉이 다채로운 의미를 형성하는 데에 돼지의 표상은 기여하는 바가 상당하다고 해야 한다.
Abstract
Back Ground: In Hayao Miyazaki’s <The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro>, Chihiro’s parents are turned into pigs for consuming food recklessly. Chihiro left alone, gets a job at a onsen in order to save the lives of herself and her parents, and grows up to be a responsible member of the community. Therefore, ‘transformation into a pig’ as an opportunity for self-reliance has an important narrative significance in <The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro>. Methods: In <The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro>, pigs are used as various symbols and are used as the main motif to depict the realities and human figures of Hayao Miyazaki. In <The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro>, pigs basically represent the arrogance of humans who refuse to work and pursue benefits, and this tendency is also aimed at hatred of humans. Conversely, pigs represent the plight of those who are imprisoned and imprisoned, and also represent the sense of loss of beings who have lost the standards of distinction and difference. Conclusions: In the end, pigs are food but not comfort food, and although they take the form of humans, they are portrayed as intermediate entities that are not humans. The various meanings of the pig are sometimes dismissed as traces of the Japanese and the bubble generation by Hayao Miyazaki. The variety of meanings of pigs in this work also means that the various characteristics of humans and contemporaries represented by pigs are secured within them. As such, it must be said that the contribution of the symbol of the pig to the formation of various meanings in <The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro> is significant.
