Abstract

Children’s literature has concretely brought attention to the issue of human rights for "Orini(children)". Recently, a growing perspective has emerged that even non-human should be acknowledged as agents possessing rights. Yi Hyeon’s science fiction trilogy “Planet of Robots” (2010) and children's novel series “Wanini, the Green Lioness” (2015– ) are well-suited for examining these shifts. These works depict non-human characters either as agents co-evolving with humans and possessing emotions comparable to them (“Planet of Robots”), or as ethical subjects within non-human communities that sense the world through bodies fundamentally distinct from human ones and thereby relativize human norms (“Wanini, the Green Lioness”). The intersectional identity formed at the overlap of children’s and non-humans’ minority positions, and the political and ethical functions through the hybridity of non-human narrative subjects are crucial areas of inquiry for children’s literature in the posthuman era.
