Abstract
This study explored the influential factors of social enterprise on job creation. A set of nine multiple regression analyses was conducted to examine the influential factors with data collected from 116 social enterprises that have opened their business information under the direction of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency. According to the results of descriptive statistical analysis, social enterprise tended to hire more older people than any other socially disadvantaged groups. This study showed that the foundation year of social enterprise and the types of social enterprise such as job creation, social service, and combination types were not associated with the job creation of social enterprise. Nonprofit-oriented social enterprises were more closely related to the part-time job creation than profit-oriented social enterprises. Social enterprises providing health services and social welfare services were more closely associated with the job creation of all nine positions including both part-time and full time positions, and positions for both social minorities and ordinary citizen. Not all financial support types were associated with the job creation. Out of three types, only financial support type for professional manpower was found to be the predictor of job creation for social minorities and part-time job creation. The rest two types including financial support for basic personnel expenses and R&D were not significantly associated with any types of job creation.
