Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out whether employment-model social enterprises, which have been promoted by the governmental supports, are creating social values as intended. In this study, the analysis was conducted, using the 2018 disclosure statement data. This study used the ratio of the employment of vulnerable social groups and the ratio of the average income of vulnerable groups as the two key social performance indicators of employment-model social enterprises. The multivariate analysis of variance(MANOVA) and the one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) were conducted to verify whether there is a difference in the ratio of the employment of vulnerable social groups and the ratio of the average income of vulnerable social groups, depending on the types of social enterprises. In addition, the multiple regression was used to test whether the types of social enterprises are statistically correlated with the differences in the ratio of the employment of vulnerable social groups and the ratio of the average income of vulnerable groups. The results show that the social performance of employment-model social enterprises in terms of both employment and average income are better than that of other types of social enterprises. Based on the results, several suggestions were made so that social enterprises will grow into the independent third sector, free from the government subsidies or controls and meet various social needs of the vulnerable social groups in the future.
