본 연구는 반려시장이 증가함에 따라 대다수 반려인이 사체를 땅에 매장하는 것을 알게 되었다. 그 과정에서 사용하는 반려동물 수목장 키트의 특징을 분석하고, 생태적·기능적 문제를 보완한 반려동물 전용 수목장 키트를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 매립 시 토양오염과 뿌리 생장 저해를 최소화하고, 조립과 매립이 용이하도록 사용자 편의성을 중심에 두어 유골함용과 매장용 2가지로 개발하였다. 본 연구의 수목장 키트는 분해 환경과 수목 생장 조건을 함께 고려한 설계를 통해 기존 제품의 기능적 한계를 보완하고, 재료의 특성과 생장 메커니즘을 반영한 구조적·조형적 완성도를 높인 형태로 디자인하였다.
Abstract
This study was conducted in response to the growing pet market and the observation that most pet owners choose to bury their deceased pets in the ground. It aimed to analyze the characteristics of existing pet tree burial kits and to develop an improved version that addresses ecological and functional issues. The new kit was designed with a focus on user convenience, allowing for easy assembly and burial, while minimizing soil contamination and interference with root growth. Two versions were developed: one for use with urns and another for direct burial. The author’s tree burial kit improves upon the functional limitations of existing products by incorporating a structural design that considers both the decomposition environment and the conditions for tree growth. It was designed to enhance structural and sculptural quality by reflecting the characteristics of materials and the biological mechanisms of growth.
