미드의 행동주의적 상호주관성 이론－독일 관념론과의 연관성을 중심으로－

본 연구는 미드의 행동주의적 상호주관성 이론을 독일 관념론과의 연관성 속에서 해명하려는 시도이다. 방법론상의 뚜렷한 차이점에도 불구하고 미드의 이론을 독일 관념론과의 내용적 연관성 속에서 바라볼 때 비로소 좀 더 심도 있게 이해할 수 있고 또한 동시에 양자의 차이점도 보다 더 선명해질 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 제1장에서는 미드 철학의 주요 구성 요소인 행동주의, 프래그머티즘, 다윈의 진화론, 독일 관념론 사이의 관계를 대략적으로 살펴볼 것이다. 이어서 제2장에서는 미드의 행동주의적 상호주관성 이론에서 가장 핵심적인 부분이고 또 그렇기 때문에 독일 관념론과의 연관성과 차별성이 동시에 가장 뚜렷하게 드러날 자아론을 그 발생론적 측면(2-1)과 구조적 측면(2-2)에 따라 각각 고찰할 것이다. 그리고 마지막으로 제3장에서는 독일 관념론에 대해 미드가 어떤 비판을 어떤 맥락에서 제기하며 그 비판은 과연 타당한지를 검토할 것이다. 이와 같은 고찰을 통해 미드의 상징적 상호작용론과 독일 관념론은 대립 관계나 우열 관계에 있다기보다는 상호주관성의 원리라는 상당히 두터운 공통의 지반 위에서 상보적인 관계에 있음이 밝혀질 것이다.
Abstract
This study is an attempt to clarify Mead’s behavioristic theory of intersubjectivity in relation to German idealism. In spite of the obvious differences in methodology, it will only be possible to understand Mead’s theory more deeply and, at the same time, to see clearer the difference between the two, when we look at his theory from the contextual relevance to German idealism. First, in Chapter 1, we will briefly look over the relationship between the main components of Mead’s philosophy: Behaviorism, Pragmatism, Darwin’s evolutionism, and German idealism. In Chapter 2, Mead’s theory of the self, which is the most central part of his behavioristic theory of intersubjectivity and which thus brings out most clearly the relation and differences to German idealism, will be considered in its genealogical aspects (2-1) and structural aspects (2-2) respectively. And finally, in Chapter 3, we will examine Mead’s critiques of German idealism and the validity of this criticism. This study will show that Mead’s symbolic interactionism and German idealism are in complementary relation on the fairly thick common basis of the principle of intersubjectivity rather than in relation of opposition or superiority and inferiority.
