한국예술가 4인의 성장과 창의성 발달과정에 대한 연구

본 연구는 예술 분야에서 창의적인 업적을 이룬 한국 예술가 4인의 성장과 창의성 발달 과정에 대한 사례 연구로서 한 세기 동안 창의적인 업적을 인정받은 예술가들을 통해 한국 예술가의 창의성이 어떤 요인과 과정을 통해 발달되어가는 지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 1900-2000년대 초까지 예술가들의 예술적 성과, 수상 경력 및 비평가들의 평가를 토대로 국. 내외에서 인정받은 예술가 4인(이상, 윤이상, 박경리, 백남준)을 선정하였다. 예술가들의 전기, 평전, 회고록, 편지, 일기, 논문 등의 인쇄자료와 웹사이트를 통해 자료 수집이 이루어졌고 본 연구를 위한 분석의 틀은 Csikszentmihalyi, Gardner의 창의성의 체계 모형을 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 4인 모두 언어능력이 뛰어났고 학업성적이 우수했으며, 내적 성찰을 하는 사고의 원숙함, 높은 자신감, 자신의 일에 몰입하여 끝까지 성과를 내는 열정과 의지를 보였다. 이들은 한국인이지만, 경계인으로 살면서 새로운 문화에 대해 개방적 태도를 보였고, 10대에 다양한 예술적 재능이 나타나 20대 초에 이미 자기가 속한 분야에서 인정을 받았으며 성인기까지 자신의 일에 끝없이 도전하는 모습을 보였다. 또한 기존의 상징체계를 자신만의 독특한 표현방식과 결합하여 새로운 모델을 창조하여 자신이 속한 장(場)의 패러다임을 변화시켰다. 4인은 모두 유년 시절 환경에서 형성된 개인적 가치를 발달시켜 한국의 근대화라는 역사적 배경과 현대문화의 복잡한 흐름 속에서 민감하게 대처하며 창의성의 방향이 변화되는 특징을 보였다.
Abstract
This case study was conducted to explore the growth and development process of creativity of 4 Korean artists. Four artists - Sang Lee, Isang Youn, Namjun Baek, Gyunglee Park of the 1900s～ the early 2000s were selected on the basis of outstanding achievement, major prizes in the field and the criticism of critics. Researchers collected the data- artists' life histories, critical biographies, reminiscences, letters, diaries and analyzed factors related to three components of System Model of Chikszentmihalyi's and Gardner's: person, field and domain. All four artists had the finest linguistic ability and showed high academic achievement. With high thinking ability, personality factors like confidence, flow, passion and volition were affecting on their creativity. They were Korean, but boundary person, and had open attitudes toward other cultures. They had the credit for the work they had done in their twenties from the people of their field, and showed endless challenges through adulthood and old age except Sang Lee who passed away early. They lived in historical background of Korean modenization and coped with situational changes sensitively.
