Abstract
In recent years, digital transformation has emerged as a critical factor in enhancing productivity across industries. Consequently, both the private and public sectors have been progressively increasing their investments in digital transformation initiatives. However, there have not been many studies analyzing the use of digital transformation products and technologies by industry. To address this gap, this study analyzes the utilization rate and localization rate of digital transformation technologies and products, as well as the potential ripple effects on the Korean economy if the intermediate demand utilization rate of digital transformation products were to increase across all industries. The findings indicate that the utilization rate of digital transformation is higher in the service sector compared to the manufacturing sector. Furthermore, the localization rate of digital transformation hardware products remains low, underscoring the necessity of enhancing domestic competitiveness in this domain. Moreover, the analysis reveals that a 1% increase in the intermediate demand utilization rate of digital transformation products would lead to a production spillover effect of 59.5 trillion KRW, a value-added spillover effect of 24.4 trillion KRW, and an employment spillover effect of approximately 175,000 jobs. These results highlight the importance of exploring strategies to expand the adoption of digital transformation technologies and products across various industries, beyond direct financial support for their development and deployment.
