고등학교 학업상담교사제의 효율적 운영 방안 탐색

본 연구는 교과부의 고교 교육력 제고 사업의 일환으로 학업상담교사제를 운영하는 119개 학교의 실태를 확인하고 그 효율적 운영 방안을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 문헌 분석과 인터뷰를 통해 설문지를 구성하고, 설문 조사를 실시하여 94개교 학업상담교사들이 참여하였다. 연구결과, 대체로 학업상담교사들은 자신들의 역할이 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 학업 상담 대상 및 과목이 편중되어 있고, 업무 과중으로 인한 만족도가 낮았으며, 학교 내 타 상담 교사와의 역할 수행이 모호하다는 문제점이 나타났다. 이는 학업상담교사의 전문성 부족, 과중한 업무, 과도한 교사 1인당 학생 수, 대학 입시에 지나치게 편향된 교육과정 운영 등에 기인한 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 효과적인 학업상담을 위해 학업상담교사들에게 전문성 향상을 위한 연수 기회가 제공되어야 하고, 학업상담교사를 정식 직무로 인식하며, 불필요한 업무를 경감시켜 주고, 타 상담교사와의 역할을 통합·조정할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the current states of academic advisor system, which is supported by ministry of education, science and technology, to enhance the competitiveness of high schools. and this study discussed some practical implications to improve the academic advisor system based upon the findings. To do this, this study developed an instrument through the related literature review and the interview. A survey research as a research type was employed. The findings of this study are the followings: first, many academic advisors tended to perceive their roles as a meaningful and important. However, some issues such as unbalanced subjects and too many students for academic counseling, dissatisfaction with heavy workloads, and ambiguity of their roles with other professional school counselors, were appeared. These negative issues stem from the lack of academic advisors' expertise, over-weighted work schedules, large number of students assigned per advisor and school curriculum focused on university entrance exam. Thus, this study suggested that (1) more in-service training programs need to be provided in order to enhance academic advisors' expertise, (2) academic advisor needs to assigned as a main official job, (3) workloads need to be reduced, and (4) overlapped roles of academic advisors with other school counselors need to be managed.
