개혁주의 예배신학에 기초한 21세기 한국교회 ‘예배의식’(liturgy)의 모델 연구

본고는 오늘날 ‘예배 의식’의 혼란 속에서 개혁주의 예배 의식의 바른 모습을 담아내는 창조적 작업을 목적으로 한다. 현재 진행되는 예배의식의 논쟁은 크게 전통적, 형식적 예전과 진보적, 자유로운 예전 사이의 갈등이라고 말할 수 있다. 과거의 전통을 무조건 고수하는 독단적 보수주의와 새로운 변화만을 추구하는 고삐 풀린 진보주의는 모두 치명적인 약점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 진보와 보수 사이의 양자택일의 ‘거짓 딜레마’에서 벗어나 예전에 대한 개혁주의적 균형감각과 지혜를 발휘해야 한다. 개혁주의 교회는 성경적 기초 위에 역사적 전통과 현대의 문화적 요소를 바르게 고려하여 하나님을 온전하게 예배하는데 도움을 주는 예전의 창조적 사역을 수행해야 한다. 개혁주의 예배는 하나님의 언약적 주권 속에서의 하나님과 그의 백성 간의 교제로서 성도들이 하나님의 창조와 구원 행위에 대하여 하나님을 찬양하고 오직 그 분만을 영화롭게 하는 것이다. 예배 의식은 복음의 진리를 반영해야 하는데, 개혁주의 예배 의식은 드 용의 4가지 원칙들 -예배는 ‘성경적’(biblical), ‘보편적’(universal), ‘신앙고백적’(confessional), 그리고 ‘회중적’(congregational)이어야 한다-과 하트와 뮤터가 제안한 성경의 가르침에 온전히 복종하려는 규제 원리와 개혁주의 언약 신학에 기초한 대화 원리에 따라 구성된다. 이러한 원리들은 예배의 통일성과 다양성을 보장하는 성경과 전통, 그리고 문화의 요소를 고려해야 한다는 것을 확증해준다. 예배 의식의 기본적 요소들은 성경의 가르침에 따라, 그리고 독특한 개혁주의 전통에 따라 기도와 찬양, 말씀 봉독과 설교, 성례들, 구제와 헌금, 그리고 축도로 요약된다. 필자가 제시한 하나의 예전을 21세기 한국교회의 모든 신자들이 하나님을 신령과 진정으로 예배하는 복된 예배를 경험하기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This article aims to make a creative work of reformed liturgy in a confused situation concerning liturgy in Korean churches. An ongoing argument on liturgy can be largely defined as a conflict between traditional, formal liturgy and progressive, free liturgy. Both an arbitrary conservatism holding past tradition unconditionally and an untied progressivism seeking new changes have lethal weaknesses. Therefore, we need to have a reformed balance and wisdom on liturgy by avoiding 'false dilemma' of selection between conservatism or progressivism. Reformed churches should perform the creative work of liturgy to help worship God on the basis of biblical foundation with a right reference to historical tradition and modern cultural elements. Reformed worship is a fellowship between a sovereign God in covenant and His people, and the people should praise Him in His creation and salvation, and glorify Him alone. Liturgy is to reflect the truth of the gospel. Reformed liturgy is constituted the four principles of De Jong -‘biblical, ‘universal’, ‘confessional’, and ‘congregational’- and the ‘regulative principle’ and ‘dialogue principle’ suggested by Hart and Muether. The basic elements of liturgy according to the biblical teaching and reformed tradition are prayer, praise, Bible reading and preaching, sacraments(baptism and the Lord's Supper), giving relief and offering, and benediction. The example liturgy suggested by this writer would give an opportunity for the Korean Christians to experience a blessed worship worshiping God in Spirit and truth.
