한국교회 예배의 현실과 개혁주의 예배음악의 원리

예배란 예배자의 신학과 신앙의 총화이며, 예배음악은 그것을 표현하는 하 나의 수단이다, 그렇다면, 오늘날 개혁주의 신학을 따르는 많은 한국교회들 에서 드려지는 예배와 예배음악은 과연 개혁주의적인가? 현실적으로 보면, 그렇지 못한 부분들이 많다. 한국교회 예배의 현실은, ‘전통적인 예배’로부터 ‘찬양과 경배’ 요소들을 포함하는 방향으로의 예배 양식의 변화, 한국선교 초기부터 문제가 되어 온 신학적 정체성에서의 혼란 가중, CCM과 ‘찬양과 경배’ 음악의발전에따른예배음악양식의변화등크게세가지로요약될 수 있다. 이와 같은 현실 속에서 칼빈의 예배 의식과 ‘무반주 시편찬송 제창’으로 표 현되는 칼빈의 예배음악, 존 낙스와 청교도들의 예배와 예배음악, 네덜란드 개혁교회의 예배음악 등은 개혁주의 예배와 예배음악의 원리를 제시해 준 다. 개혁주의 예배음악은 철저하게 하나님 중심적이며, 성경 중심적이고, 회 중 중심적이다. 따라서 예배음악은 먼저 오직 하나님께만 영광이 되는 음악 이어야 한다. 그리고 성경 중심적인 관점에서 시편찬송의 회복이 필요하다. ‘시와 찬송과 신령한 노래들’이 예배 안에서 노래되었던 초대교회 때처럼 적 어도 시편찬송이 회중찬송의 중요한 한 부분이 되어야 한다. 악기 사용에 관해서는 칼빈 시대의 기악적 상황과 오늘날의 상황이 크게 다르므로 예배에 방해가 되지 않고 복음전파에 도움이 된다면 악기 사용 자체가 크게 문제 되지는 않을 것이다. 이것은 성가대의 경우에도 마찬가지이다. 요컨대, 한국 교회는 개혁주의 전통의 예배음악 사상과 정신을 이 시대에 맞게 잘 계승하 고 발전시켜 나아가야 한다.
Abstract
Worship is a ceremonial expression of the theology and faith of Christian worshipers, and worship music is a means of theological expression. In this aspect, we need to think about current worship and worship music in Korean churches which follow Reformed theology. In reality, many ele- ments of worship and worship music in Korea are not Reformed. Worship in Korean churches shows three things: a change of worship style from ‘traditional worship’ to worship which contains elements of Praise and Worship, a state of more confusion in theological identity than before, and a change of style in worship music according to the development of CCM and ‘Praise and Worship.’ In this situation, the principles of Reformed worship and worship music are presented by the Reformed tradition which includes metrical psalms that Calvin advocated in his liturgies, worship and worship music that John Knox and Puritans insisted, and worship music in Reformed churches of the Netherlands. Reformed worship music is God-centered, Biblical, and congregational. Worship music should glorify God. A tradition of singing metrical psalms should be recovered as an important element of worship. Even though Calvin did not use any musical instruments in worship, we could use them if they were helpful for worship and evangelism. We could also use church choirs in worship to glorify God with well-prepared music. In summary, Korean churches should succeed to the Reformed tradition of worship and worship music and make a further development of Reformed worship music.
