아동 정서불안 해소를 위한 의약품 패키지 캐릭터 디자인 제안- 천식약 브랜드 노이안을 중심으로 -

어린이 천식은 만성 호흡계 질환으로, 어린이에게 흔히 발생하는 만성 질환 중 하나다. 이 질환은 장기적인 약물 치료를 필요하며, 안정적인 상태 유지가 중요하다. 그러나 성장기 어린이들은 심리적, 정서적으로 취약하고, 충분한 언어 표현 능력이 부족하여 자신이 겪는 불안과 고통을 제대로 표현하기 어렵다. 이러한 이유로 보호자가 약 복용을 권유하는 것이 어려워지며, 결과적으로 약 복용 과정 또한 복잡해진다. 더욱이 이 시기의 어린이들은 주로 시각 정보를 통해 세상을 인지하기 때문에, 천식 약품의 패키지 디자인은 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 패키지의 색상과 패턴 등 시각적 요소는 어린이의 관심을 끌고 그들의 정서에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 연구는 의약품 패키지 캐릭터 디자인과 어린이의 정서 사이의 상관관계를 탐구하고, 현재 의약품 패키지 캐릭터 디자인의 현황과 문제점을 분석하여, 어린이의 정서 불안을 해소할 수 있는 디자인 방안을 제안한다. 연구 방법은 선행 연구와 관련 자료를 검토하여 이론적 틀을 정립하고, 사례 분석을 통해 기존 의약품 패키지 디자인에서 캐릭터 개발의 장단점을 명확히 한다. 이를 바탕으로 15개 디자인 스케치와 2개 디자인 시안을 제작하였으며, 마지막으로 설문 조사를 통해 제안된 디자인 방안의 실행 가능성과 적용성을 검증하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 우수한 캐릭터 디자인이 의약품 패키지에 효과적으로 통합될 경우, 어린이의 정서 불안을 해소하는 데 도움이 되며, 캐릭터를 매개로 한 게임 및 보상 메커니즘을 도입함으로써, 만성 질환의 치료 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있다고 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
Childhood asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that commonly affects children and requires long-term medication management to maintain stability. However, children are emotionally and psychologically vulnerable and often lack the verbal skills to express their anxieties and discomfort effectively, complicating the medication process. Additionally, children primarily perceive the world through visual information, making the design of asthma medication packaging crucial. The color and pattern of the package can engage a child's interest and positively influence their emotions. This study explores the correlation between pharmaceutical package character design and children's emotions, analyzes the current state and issues of such designs, and proposes solutions to alleviate emotional distress in children. The research methodology involves reviewing literature and existing materials to establish a theoretical framework, analyzing cases to understand the pros and cons of current pharmaceutical character designs, and creating 15 design sketches and 2 prototypes. The feasibility and applicability of the proposed designs were verified through surveys. The findings suggest that well-integrated character designs in medicine packaging can help mitigate emotional distress in children. Introducing game elements and reward mechanisms using characters can also effectively address challenges in managing chronic conditions.
