2024년 서울시교육청이 전국 최초로 발표한 ‘초등 영재 표준 교육과정’은 영재교육 기관 간 편차와 교육 연계성 문제를 해소하고자 개발되었다. 특히 과학영역은 영재의 특성과 미래사회가 요구하는 핵심역량을 반영하여 구성되었으며, 2022 개정 교육과정 및 미래세대 과학교육표준, 국가 영재교육 프로그램 기준의 영향을 받은 것으로 알려졌다. 본 연구는 서울시교육청 초등 영재 표준 교육과정 과학영역이 어떠한 자료를 기반으로 개발되었는지를 문헌 분석을 통해 규명하고, 그 내용적 특징과 개선점을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 주요 관련 문헌들과 성취기준 및 내용 체계를 비교하였으며, 특히 GED 역량강화 프로그램과의 연계 여부를 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 본 교육과정은 다섯 가지 과학 핵심역량을 명확히 설정하였고, 2022 개정 교육과정의 내용 체계를 충실히 따르면서도 영재의 자기주도적 탐구 능력을 강화하도록 성취기준을 심화 구성하였다. 본 연구는 분석 결과를 바탕으로 서울시교육청 초등 영재 표준 교육과정 과학영역의 개선안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
In 2024, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education introduced the Standard Curriculum for Elementary Gifted Education, the first of its kind in South Korea. This curriculum was developed to reduce disparities among institutions and to enhance the continuity of gifted education. In particular, the science domain was designed to reflect the characteristics of gifted learners and the core competencies required in a future-oriented society. Its development was informed by the 2022 Revised National Curriculum, the Science Education Standards for Future Generations, and the National Standards for Gifted Education Programs. This study aims to investigate the reference materials used in developing the science domain of the Seoul standard curriculum and to analyze its content features and areas for improvement through a comprehensive literature review. Key documents were compared with the curriculum’s achievement standards and content structure, with a focus on alignment with the GED Competency Enhancement Program. The findings indicate that the curriculum clearly identifies five core competencies in science and deepens the achievement standards to promote self-directed inquiry among gifted students, while closely adhering to the framework of the 2022 Revised National Curriculum. Based on these findings, this study proposes specific suggestions to improve the science domain of the Seoul standard curriculum for elementary gifted education.
