상장 제조 기업의 산업재해와 노동생산성 간 양방향 인과관계 및 중장기 파급효과 분석

본 연구는 산업재해가 기업의 노동생산성에 미치는 파급효과의 방향과 지속기간 및양방향 인과관계 등을 면밀히 분석하여 산재예방 정책 수립의 근거와 기업의 자발적 안전보건 참여 유인을 제시하고자 하였다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 제조업 1,009개 상장기업을 대상으로 하는 패널벡터자기회귀 모형을 설정하고, 과거 8년간의 노동생산성(1인당 부가가치)과 산업재해율, 설비구성 특성인 기계장비율과 노동장비율, 인적구성 특성인 정규직 비중 등 패널 자료를 수집하여 분석을 시도하였다. 분석 결과, 산업재해율 증가는 다음 해 기업의 노동생산성(1인당 부가가치)을 크게감소시켰으며, 그 효과는 약 4년에 거쳐 등락을 반복하며 소멸(진동 수렴)하는 모습을보였다. 또한 노동생산성 하락 이후 회복 과정을 거치면서 노동생산성 손실의 일부를수복하지만, 산업재해로 인해 기업의 전반적 노동생산성이 감소하고 생산성 회복에 상당한 기간이 소요되었다. 아울러 산업재해 감소는 기업의 생산성을 증대시키고, 기업의생산성 증가는 다시 산업재해를 감소시키는 선순환 구조가 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과가 기업의 자발적 산재예방 노력의 유인으로 작용하고, 기업 스스로안전하고 건강한 일터를 조성하도록 유도하여 지속 가능한 산업생태계 조성에 기여할수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the impact of occupational accidents on corporate labor productivity, focusing on the direction, duration, and bidirectional causal relationships. The study applied a panel vector autoregression model to 1,009 listed manufacturing companies, using 8 years of data on labor productivity, occupational accident rates, equipment composition, and workforce characteristics. The results showed that an increase in occupational accident rates significantly reduced labor productivity the following year, with the effect fluctuating for about 4 years before fading. While partial recovery occurred, labor productivity remained reduced for a long period due to accidents. Furthermore, we found a virtuous cycle where reduced accidents increased productivity, and higher productivity further lowered accidents. Our findings suggest that promoting voluntary accident prevention efforts can help companies create safer, healthier workplaces, contributing to a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
