Abstract
This study is about Living Lab, which has recently attracted attention in various fields as an open innovation ecosystem. In particular, we focus on the analysis of Living Lab as a means of expanding and boosting citizen participation. Among the various types of Living Lab, the characteristics of resident-led Living Lab and its tangible characteristics of civic participation were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, three characteristics were identified in the case of this study: participatory characteristics, spatial characteristics, and structural characteristics. First, active and proactive participation of residents, reflections of residents' opinions and needs, the existence of common goals, and information sharing were achieved. Second, it showed the characteristics of designing and experimenting directly in the areas and sites where residents live, focusing on the daily issue of energy. Third, based on openness, cooperative governance and horizontal networks were established, such as forming resident-public-private partnerships. In addition, residents discovered the agenda themselves and decided on the direction of the project. Moreover, it is characterized by the fact that residents have built a bottom-up decision-making structure at the implementation stage.
