Abstract
From a commonsense standpoint, there has been a presumption that China has the different characteristics among regions. This article aims at confirming to figure out this presumption empirically. China’ central government has performed a reform and an open-door policy since 1978. This means that China State adopted not the balanced regional developmental strategy but the unbalanced one. More specially, this also means that China state has performed the different developmental strategies(focusing on the specific ownership enterprise) for regions. From the this point, this study set a hypothesis that Chin’s residents prefer the strategy central government has performed region they has lived in. To examine this hypothesis, this study selected 500 samples in each metropolis Being, Shanghai and Guangzhou that have been performed the different regional developmental strategy by central government. The survey is made progress during Jun 2005. The result of analysis support the hypothesis of this study. This indicates that the residents of metropolises in China have the different preferences in the aspect of developmental strategy. This also means that they have the local identity in the same aspect.
