본 연구는 해외직접투자가 중국의 산업성장에 미치는 영향을 동태패널 접근을 통해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 중국 경제성장을 유도한 FDI를 28개 산업수준에서 분석대상으로 삼았으며, 시계열 통계자료를 통해 중국 FDI 성격과 특징을 도출하고 산업성장의 주요 통제변수로 자국 내 순 고정자본스톡을 설정하였다. 프레임 워크 분석 후, 시스템 GMM 모델을 사용하여 실증분석하였다. 그 결과 모든 변수가 중국 산업성장에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여주고 있으며, 전기의 산업성장(산업의 소득수준)은 다음기의 산업성장에 1% 수준에서 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. FDI와 중국 내 순 고정자본스톡 역시 1% 수준에서 산업성장에 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 시스템 GMM 모델의 추정 결과에 대한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, FDI는 중국 경제성장을 위한 중요한 요인으로 여전히 유의하다. 둘째, 중국 내 순 고정자본 스톡은 중국 산업성장에 정(+)의 영향력을 미치며 FDI와 함께 중국 경제를 견인하는 주요한 동력으로 볼 수 있다. 마지막으로 전년도의 산업소득이 당해 년도 산업성장에 가장 많은 영향을 미친다는 결과는 산업성장을 위한 정책추진이 연속성을 갖고, 장기적인 안목에서 실행되어야 함을 의미한다.
Abstract
This study uses a system GMM(Generalized Method of Moments) model to investigate the impact of foreign direct investment(FDI) on industry growth. We use 28 manufacturing sector panel data from 2002 to 2015 and test the relationship among the variables in question, industry growth, FDI, and net domestic capital stock, taking into account the results from various panel framework analyses. The result shows that both of foreign direct investment and net domestic capital stock have significant effects on growth of China manufacturing sector. It means that FDI stimulates domestic investment of China industry, which leads to industry growth. Moreover, the study finds a strong evidence of the persistence effect, showing that the level of industry income in the previous period has a positive and highly significant effect on the current one. Some policy implications are suggested based on the results of this study.
