초록
The many Chosun scholar-diplomats returning from Ming China left a rich travel record titled Chocheonrok(朝天录). However, they could not travel to the areas south of Beijing because of travel restrictions. The few people of Chosun that had been to the forbidden areas were drifters, mostly fishermen, who were illiterate and could not leave a written record of their experiences. Choi Pu(1454-1504) was an exception, an educated man who wrote Pyohaerok, which included many conversations between Choi and the Chinese. From his records, we see that the Chinese were highly impressed with the Confucian culture of Korea, while Choi showed great interest in the New Government of Hongchi(弘治新政). Moreover, it was due to <Pyohaerok(漂海录)> that the people in Chosun came to realize the difference between the cultures of Chinese in the north and south of the Yangtze River.
