韓國 開化期 日本語 學習書『日話獨習』에 관한 考察

Abstract

This paper deals with Japanese Conversation for Self-Study, which was written by a Korean scholar named Son Bunggu in 1905. There are few studies on the Japanese textbooks used by Koreans in the age of modern enlightenment. In other words, the number of studies on Japanese textbooks used by Koreans is much smaller that on Korean textbooks used by Japanese people. There are two reasons. First, there is not much interest in Japanese textbooks for Koreans. Second, the surveys for Japanese textbooks has not been so active until now. In contrast, it is much easier to get the materials on Korean textbooks from Japanese local libraries. That is why the studies for Korean textbooks has been active until now. As a starting point for the study of Japanese textbooks, this paper would like to overview an important material on the area in question. Among the many copies of this book, this study deals with the publications of 1907 and 1909. As for this book’s motivation and author, The Preface of Japanese Conversation for Self-Study, written by Lee Suin, says that the author of the book also had profound knowledge on Korean and he was worried about the negligence of exchange in the area of language translation between the two countries. The author of the book confessed that he had gathered over ten thousand of materials for the publication of the book during his 32-month stay in Japan in his own preface.
