“TUBUH PEREMPUAN” DALAM KARYA WANITA PENGARANG INDONESIA: SEBUAH PERBANDINGAN ANTARA SAMAN DENGAN PADA SEBUAH KAPAL

Abstract

In the effort to trace down the journey of Indonesian women authors in the history of Indonesian modern literature, there are two important periods, namely the booming era of the emerge of some Indonesian authors with their works that brighten the development of Indonesian literature. The two periods are the decade of the year 1970s and the year 2000s. Looking at the important of those two eras of women authors in the Indonesian modern literature, the research about those two eras, especially the comparison between the two eras, are definitely important and interesting. Also, if observing from the fact that generally women authors inclined to express every issues related with women through their works, very possible to find the issue or theme that have no difference in the essence inside their works, eventhough there are difference of time background between those two eras. This research is an effort of comparing between Pada Sebuah Kapal by Nh. Dini that published in 1973 and Saman by Ayu Utami from the perspective of women body that expressed in those two works. As conclusion of this research, it's found out the fact that definitely important in Saman by Ayu Utami. In that work, women body is not damaged or sacrified by social convention, but rather a body that deconstructed by the women itself. In that reality, it is found that women start to demand actively their rights of their own body. 'Shakuntala celebrates her own body with fully awareness of her rights of her own body, while Sri with her pasive atitude won't let go her body from social convention.'
