푸펜도르프가 구상하는 자연 종교에서 신, 인간의 신에 대한 의무, 종교와 도덕- 『인간의 의무』에 관한 해석적 연구 -

글쓴이는 아래 논문에서 푸펜도르프의 자연법 이론이 품고 있는 세 가지 갈래 곧 자연법에 기초한 윤리학과 자연법에 의존하는 사회 과학들 그리고 자연법에 따르는 종교 철학이나 도덕 철학 가운데 셋째 갈래의 영역 안에서 연구를 수행하며, 다음과 같은 두 가지 목적을 추구한다. 첫째로 아래 논문은, 푸펜도르프가 자연 종교 그리고 신에 대한 인간의 의무라는 주요 주제 아래 종교 철학과 도덕 철학의 시각에서 사유하고 이해하는 내용을 충분히 해명해내고자 한다. 이 첫째 목적을 위하여 아래 논문은 다음과 같은 하위 주제들을 다룬다: 신의 존재와 신의 본질적 특징, 이성과 신앙, 지식과 계시, 내면성의 철학 모형을 따르는 안으로부터의 신 존재 증명, 이것으로부터 뚜렷이 구별되는 것으로 실재주의 철학 모형을 따르는 밖으로부터의 신 존재 증명, 종교 언어의 유비적 사용, 이신론에 정향한 유신론, 도덕적 신 존재 증명, 도덕을 위한 종교와 신. 둘째로 글쓴이는 종교 철학과 도덕 철학의 역사에 주의하여 이 철학사 안에서 푸펜도르프가 차지하는 영향사적 위치와 의미를 발굴해내고자 하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 이 목적을 위하여 글쓴이는 푸펜도르프를 집중적으로 다루면서도 푸펜도르프를 아리스토텔레스, 아우구스티누스, 안셀무스, 아퀴나스, 데카르트, 라이프니츠, 칸트 등과 같은 철학자들과 비교해 봄으로써 푸펜도르프의 자연 종교 개념에 함축적으로 담겨 있는 (이 논문에서 비교 대상이 되는) 두 철학자의 시각과 견해를 동일시하거나 구별할 수 있는 영향사적 전역사와 후역사의 흔적들을 밝혀내고자 시도한다.
Abstract
This article purports to make an interpretative study of the first book of Pufendorfs On the Duty of Man and Citizen According to Natural Law. It has the following two purposes. On the one hand it aims to provide an elucidating full account of what Pufendorf understands under the main themes of natural religion and man`s moral duties toward God. For this purpose it deals with such sub-themes as God`s existence and essence, reason and faith, knowledge and revelation, the argument for the existence of God from the outside in contrast with that from the inside, the analogical use of religious language, deism-oriented theism in distinction from atheism, moral argument for the existence of God, religion for morality. On the other hand taking the context of the history of religious philosophy and moral philosophy into consideration the author intends to make clear Pufendorfs philosophical place and significance in it. For this purpose he attempts to carry out an excavating inquiry so that he may bring out the dual histories of both reception and influence that can be said to lie implicit and hidden in Pufendorfs conception of natural religion not only by focusing on Pufendorf but also by comparing Pufendorf (even if in an oversimplified way) with such philosophers as Aristotle, Augustinus, Anselm, Aquinas, Descartes, Leibniz, and Kant with either identification or distinction in view.
