이주민 대상 한국어 교재에 나타난 이주민의 정체성 영향 요소 분석

본고에서는 이주민의 성공적인 한국어 습득을 위해 긍정적인 정체성 형성이 핵심적이라고 보고 한국어 교재의 내용이 이주민의 정체성 구성에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 이주민 대상 한국어 교재에서 등장인물들이 한국어 모어 화자와 어떠한 관계를 맺고 있으며, 대화에서의 주도권을 누가 갖는지, 한국어 학습에 대한 태도는 어떠한지, 이주민의 직업적 다양성은 어떠한지를 검토하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, <사통>의 경우 외국인끼리의 대화가 가장 높은 비중을 차지하였으며, <결혼>과 <고용>은 대화 참여자의 관계가 매우 한정적으로 나타났고, 수직적 관계에서 모어 화자가 상위자인 경우가 많았다. 둘째, 강한 FTA의 화행을 누가 주로 수행하는가로 판단할 때 대화의 주도권은 한국인에게 있는 경우가 많았는데, 한국인은 명령하기, 허락하기, 금지하기, 조언하기 등의 적극적인 화행을 외국인보다 많이 수행하고 있었으며 외국인은 상대적으로 수동적이고 소극적인 화행을 수행하였다. 셋째, 한국어 학습에 대한 태도는 한국어를 잘 못하는 것을 부끄러운 일로 여기거나 한국어 능력에 대한 책임은 온전히 학습자 개인에게 있으며, 한국어를 잘하면 모든 문제가 해결될 수 있을 것이라는 만능주의적인 한국어 학습 동기가 발견되었다. 또한, 한국어 능력 향상의 척도는 높은 한국어 시험 점수, 한국어 시험 합격으로 그려지고 있었다. 넷째, 이주민의 직업적 다양성이 실현된 교재도 있었지만, 이주민 안에서 다시 직업적 계층화가 이루어지고 여성 결혼이민자에게는 가정주부로서의 고정된 역할과 정체성이 부여되고 있었다.
Abstract
This paper examined how the contents of Korean textbooks affect the composition of migrants' identity. To this purpose, this study reviewed what kind of relationship the migrant characters have with native Korean speakers in textbooks, who has power in conversation, what is their attitude toward learning Korean, and what how diverse the occupations of migrants. The results are as follows. First, in the case of <Korea Immigration & integration program>, conversations between foreigners took up the highest proportion, and in <International Marriage Migrants> and <Standard Korean>, the relationship between conversational partners was very limited. Second, based on who mainly conducts dialogues in strong FTAs, the initiative in dialogue was often held by Koreans. Third, there were textbooks in which migrants had various occupations, but there was a hierarchy within the migrants, or the fixed role and identity of housewives were given to marriage migrants. Fourth, as to the attitude toward learning Korean, the view that not being good at Korean is a shameful thing, the view that the reason for the lack of Korean proficiency lies in the individual learner, the view of assimilationism, and the impractical motivation for learning Korean were found.
