A Study on the Patriots and Veterans Affairs for Nation Unity in France and Germany

The patriots and veterans affairs policy's mission is to honor and serve those who have dedicated their lives and sacrificed for country, and to preserve and promote their patriotic spirit. The patriots and veterans affairs policy includes the strategic goal of promote the spirit of patriotism and contribute to national unity. The ministry of patriots and veterans affairs designates certain holidays and organizes various events to commemorate the noble sacrifices and contributions made for nation and to preserve their legacy throughout the following generations. This study analyzed the political purpose and policy measures of the patriots and veterans affairs policy implemented in France and Germany through analysis on symbolisms. In the rapidly changing international environment, national unification is an urgent issue. France and Germany take policies for patriots and veterans seriously, because these policies perform a high level of symbolic function that maintains and develops the nation-state by nourishing community spirit and identification and fortifying its security capability.
