초록

In discussions of Nakahara Tsuuya, <Sky> has always been a key word. It has been expressed in many different forms, playing an important role in his various works. For this reason, he is often called 'a poet of sky.' Our current understanding of the nature of his world leads us to say that <Sky> means everything, including even the fear from his innermost mind and the ideal toward complete relief. It is a space of illusion, where he is able to be relieved from the pains of personal relationships. The concept of <Sky> has thus been the main topic of researches on Takahara Tsuuya, but there are few that discuss on the role of <Sea> in his poets. The purposes of this paper are to classify his poets with respect to the notion of <Sea>, to analyze them, and to identify its precise meaning based on the skills and methods exploited in his works. It was found out that <Sea> and <Sky> coexist in his poets. This fact indicates that the notion of <Sea> is an important element to consider in establishing a new phase of his world.
