Abstract
Human struggles to deal with the painful emotions that accompany his/her daily life experiences. Most of the times, human does not want to feel with these painful emotions so he/she tries to avoid those distressing emotions. However, these methods tend to fail in adequately regulating emotions, only to increase subjective distress and to cause psychological maladaptation. It is important to investigate human’s painful experiences and healing in the context of the counseling relationship throughout dealing with how we treat these painful experiences and emotions in the counseling psychological view. Based on this, this study investigated how confront distressing emotions that accompany with painful experiences and accept these emotions repeatedly and what could be benefits. Furthermore, this study discussed how these results can be realized in the specific relationship between counselor and client.
